Flosalaug Swimming Pool

Open from June 1st - August 31st

Established by Olafur Sigurdsson and Palina Þorsteinsdottir in 1994 and they are still today improving their services. Flosalaug Swimming Pool and Campsite is situated by the majestic Oraefajokull Glacier and overlooks the extensive sandy estuary of the river Skeidara.

The swimming pool was named after Flosi Þordarson an early settler who lived near Svinafell and who played a major role in Brennu-Njals-Saga an early Icelandic Saga.

The pool itself is circular, about 12.5 m. in diameter and a meter deep, there are also two Hot Tubs that seat 8-10 people each and plenty of space for those who want to sunbathe.

The Swimming Pool Reception can provide everything you need! Swimsuits, swimming trunks and towels are available for hire. Refreshments for sale include coffee, soft drinks and ice cream. Household waste in the local county is incinerated and this helps to heat up the water in the swimming pool, in an ecological way.
